212 bodybuilder Murat Gonul died suddenly at 46 years old.
IFBB professional bodybuilder Murat Gonul has passed away at the age of 46, according to reports. Rx Muscle was the first to report it on Tuesday via Instagram but a caused of death has not been revealed at this time.
While there are few details on his passing, a post was shared explaining what was known at the time. The passing was sudden as Gonul recently competed in the Men’s 212 division in 2022.

Gonul recently traveled to Costa Rica with his wife, Funda Gonul, and were having an issue returning to Canada. Physique coach Jason Green shared on Facebook that he was in contact with Gonul about bodybuilding prep for upcoming competitions. He spoke on the overall character of Gonul and shared that he will be setting up a GoFundMe page to help with arrangements.
The Career of Murat Gonul
Murat Gonul, born in Istanbul, gained a passion for fitness at a young age. He worked to build an elite physique in Men’s 212, first appearing on stage in 2000 where he was able to win the IFBB Turkey World Championship Bodybuilding show in the 70kg division.
Gonul burst onto the scene in the IFBB Pro League in 2018. He appeared at the 2019 New York Pro and was able to make great improvements from there. Gonul was present in two shows over the last two years. He finished fifth during the 2021 Toronto Pro Supershow and was able to finish second at the 2022 Toronto Pro Supershow.
